In 1983-1987 Basic studies of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Duisburg

In 1987-1990 Main studies of Mechanical Engineering at Aachen RWTH

In 1990-1998 Research Assistant at the Institute of Structural Mechanics & Control, University of Siegen,

in that time: Dissertation (1995): Topology optimization of structures using hole positioning criteria

In 1999-2002 Project Engineer and Project Leader for Optimization at Adam Opel AG (General Motors),

in that time: Teaching positions at the University of Siegen and the Technical University of Darmstadt

In 2003-2012 Professor at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Department of Automotive & Aircraft Engineering,

in that time: The first edition of the book "Optimierung mechanischer Strukturen" (2005)

Since 2013 Professor at the University of Wuppertal
